Dog Diseases: There are several different ways of classifying dog diseases. Probably the most widely used method divides dog diseases into ten major groups: infectious dog diseases, immunological dog diseases, neoplasms (tumors), genetic and metabolic dog diseases, dog diseases of growth and development, dog diseases due to chemical and physical agents, nutritional dog diseases, endocrine dog diseases, circulatory dog diseases, and mental disorders.
Classification. — The approximately 300 skin dog diseases listed in the American Medical Association's Standard Nomenclature of Disease are classified under the following general headings : (1) dog diseases due to prenatal influence; (2) dog diseases due to infection with lower organisms; (3) dog diseases due to higher plant or animal parasites; (4) dog diseases due to intoxication; (5) dog diseases due to trauma or physical agents; (6) dog diseases due to circulatory disturbance or blood dyscrasia; (7) dog diseases due to disturbance of innervation or of psychic control; (8) dog diseases due to or consisting of static mechanical abnormality.-; (9) dog diseases due to disorder of metabolism, growth, or nutrition; (10) new growths; |
